Lp(a) and CAD

I just had a heart profile done and it revealed an Lp(a) of 114.  I'm told that is very high.  I also have a fribinogen of 475, also very high.  I do not smoke, have a nomal BP and thought I was fairly healthy.  My father died at the age of 46 of a heart attack.  I've read some about the risk of havin a high Lp(a) and it stated that diet or exercise have no impact on reducing these levels.  My general physicain has advised me to take a statin with niacin.  I did read that L(a) is not the important factor but the size of the particles that matters.  It looks like the majority of my ldl particles are large, which I read are less invasive.  Anyone have any observations or suggestions?  I don't want to be a sitting duck waiting for my arteries to clog.

Thank you, Cat
