Lyme and Horrible Palpitations

by *Robin*, Apr 09, 2007 12:00AM
Hey Everyone,

I finally got a diagnosis of Lyme Disease. Whether it has permanently affected my heart, I don’t know.

Last night, I had the worst palpitations I’ve ever had. My heart was flip flopping, it felt like every beat. I was lucky to get an hour of sleep.

I didn’t go to the ER because I’ve been there before for palpitations, and they really don’t do anything. Besides, they know nothing about Lyme disease, so it’s a waste of time.

Am I in any danger with so many flip flops at a time, for so many hours?

I tried to make an appointment with my Cardiologist, but they are booked for 3 weeks and all they do is tell you to go to the ER.

Any opinions are appreciated.

Hearts filp flopping happends to a lot of people but since yours happends more often you should get it checked out, but its not going to hurt you for the mean time. But there is meds for it, you really dont have to take meds for it my doctor says, but if you dont over time it weakens your heart, and it is just really uncomfortable. Do you have Anxity b/c sometimes that causes your heart to feel funny? but You will be fine. good luck and dont stress yourself over it.

So your Western Blot was positive?

Did you see  that the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) came out with updated recommendations about Lyme disease just last Fall and they say treatment doesn't work  beyond the first 2-4 weeks following infection and that treatment for chronic Lyme is not indicated because chronic Lyme disease does not result from persistent infection .
