MVP and normal EKG??? Chest pain.

In March 1999 I had chest pains and we went to doctor in Jefferson Hospital. My EKG was normal and doctor diagnosed me as "too much acid in stomach" and prescribed acid control medication Prilosec. I am taking in Prilosec for three months now. It really stopped pain, but I still have SOB at rest (not often), and heart pain (often). We went to Cardiology center and doctor said that EKG is normal, but stated diagnosis MV Prolapse. She prescribed no medication as fitness test was within normal range 158. I do have heart pain every day, sometimes chest pain, not severe but I feel scared. I do not have numbness, loss/gain of weight. My blood pressure always stable and normal. I am 26 years old and never had any heart problems.

Is that possible to have NORMAL EKG and chest pain and heart pain ????

My suspicion is that may be I needed antibiotic that cleans blood stream and Prilosec works that way ???

Dear Liana

A normal EKG does not eliminate the possibility that chest pains are due to coronary artery disease. However, it is statistically unlikely for a healthy 26 year old female to have significant coronary artery disease. Prilosec works by decreasing stomach acid production. It is not an antibiotic. The only potential role for antibiotics in your case would be if you had a stomach ulcer caused by bacteria.
