MVR and endocarditis

I recently (16.03.01) had a successful mitral valve replacement after which I am recovering well (I live in Romania).
I am not under digitalis. I like to know what is the best way to keep out of endocarditis. At the hospital where I made the surgery there was an entire section with patients with endocarditis after MVR who where treated for endocarditis or needed another surgery for one or more valves because of the same endocarditis.
For another country's manufacturer the medication is of course different but I'll try the substance name (where I know it):
- Acenocumarol -similar with warfarin
- Captopril - another synthetic  anticoagulant
- furosemid (in sulphone amides group) - diuretic
- spironolactone (synthetic steroid) - another diuretic
- aspacardin potasium aspatrate
magnesium aspartate - for a better equilibrium of ions at the miocardial fiber.
Also I'd like to know the proper diet in my case.

Thank you very much,
MITRAL MAN

Dear Mitral,
Endocarditis is an infection of the heart valve that can require repeat surgery.  Most cases of endocarditis actually starts at the time of surgery from microbes found on the patients skin.  The infection may not be discovered until some time later.  Other cases of endocarditis come from bacteremia (infection in the blood stream) so avoiding this would be helpful.  Dental procedures have been implicated in endocarditis and pre-dental antibiotics are recommended.  The usual dose is 2 gm of amoxicillin 2 hours prior to the procedure.  There is no role for diet in preventing endocarditis but a low-fat, low salt diet in general is healthy for you.
