Management

Hi, my father (70) had a triple heart bypass surgery about 3 months ago and is recovering progressively. Recently however (2 days ago), he has complained that he is coughing and he sometimes retches. What is the cause of this and how do we help manage it at home?

Sometimes there are coughing episodes if the heart is not pumping efficiently as it creates  pumonary congestion.  Also, there are some heart medicine that has a side effect of coughing.  Considering your fathr's health issues, it may be a good idea to consult with a doctor to rule out serious condition.

Thanks for sharing and take care.
