Marathon after a quadruple bypass

Marathon after a quadruple bypass

I had a quadruple bypass a year ago.  I am now 53 and running my first marathon after surgery.  Any advice.  I am running much slower now.  By design.  I need the confidence of finishing this marathon before I can think of time.  What do you think?  Thanks.

If you are feeling well and have been cleared by your doctor to exercise, then you should be able to run the marathon. Pay attention to your body, though -- if you're having chest pain, excessive shortness of breath (more than you should for the level of activity you are doing, etc) then stop and seek help.
