My husband had  the aortic and mitral valves replaced due to CHF 21/2 years ago been doing fine til lately, has dizzy spells and Bp was 224/127 when we arrived at ER, they in my opinion made light of it called it vasovagal syncope, which seems to be a DROP in pressure, his pulse varied from 66-73 when we left Er 4 hrs. later BP was 173/86. I really need to know more than seem to think. He had Nuculer treadmill in May said all was fine. Help!! He is 58 yrs. old

Dear Rita,

Thank you for your question.  A blood pressure of 220/170 is definitely too high and is probably enough to make him dizzy.  It sounds to me as if he needs his doctor to review and adjust his medications to prevent this from reoccurring in the future.  In addition he needs to watch his diet and maintain a low sodium, low fat diet.  I don't think this is related to his heart valves.
