Mechanicale arota valve or tissue replacment

by donna227, Jan 03, 2009 12:14PM
I have arota stenosis and I was told I need a valve replacment even though I have no symptoms but the valve is very narrow. I am a pretty healthy, and active person, 56 years old and take no medication what so ever. I have a difficulte time deciding wether to have a mechanicle, tissue, or homograft valve because of the medication. I heard while on this Coumadin I won't be able to eat all the vegtetable I usually do or take supplement such as vitamine E, omega 3 or garlic. I am very much into health and fittness and eat mostly vegtable and fish.
Does anyone know if tissue valve are less sucessful in preformance than mechanicle replacment and also I have heard that now they make tissue valve that last up till 20 years. If you know anything about these valve your reply would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Donna
