Medication for Prolong Qt Syndrome

by ChandaW, Dec 10, 2007 12:17AM
Hi my son is 3yrs old and was diagnosed with prolong qt syndrome at age 2. He had to have a defibrillator put in and is also on two medications. One is Propranolol and the other is Mexiletine. I know propranolol is very commonly used in children. But i worry a lot about him being on the mexiletine. Is there any one out there that has a child on Mexiletine?

There is a Yahoo Health Group for Long QT Syndrome. There are many great people there that can answer your questions. Just go to
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/longqt/
and register and you can join this group. I do know there are people who take these medications who would be able to help you.
