Medications for Atrial Tach

I had sudden onset of Atrial Tach last December and was put on 5mg. of Inderal twice a day.  Had all the testing done and cardiologist felt likely I have electrical problem but wanted to try to control with medication.
I have not had problems with my heart racing but only extreme fatigue added to my existing condition of Epstein Barr (chronic fatigue) IBS, and gastritis and enemia.  My heart rate would range from 75 to 100+ which seemed normal for me since I was a smoker.
My cardiologist was suggesting I try Toprol XL for the fatigue but I quit smoking and now my heart rate is under 60 per minute and I feel light headed and confused and nauseous.  I have not tried the other drug for fear that since it is time released it may be stronger.  My blood pressure is usually very low.  My head is slightly stuffy....do you think these symptoms could be from something else or should I lower my Inderal dosage?
I just quit smoking one week ago and have already gained 3 pounds.  Does the heart rate lower my metabolism also?  I have tried some aerobic deep breathing exercises to increase my heart rate but it didn't last for long.
Thank you for your help.  I have contacted my cardiologist also.
