Mild Cardiomegaly

I have just had a chest x-ray and the report states:
Mild cardiomegaly with left ventricular configuration and CTR of 15/28.5 cms. The pulmonary vasculature is normal. Lungs are well expanded and clear. The bony thorax is unremarkable.
What exactly does all that mean?
I have had high blood pressure and have been on medication for a long time. I am 54 years old and about 65 lbs. overweight. I have been overweight most of my life. I also take medication for arthritis which consists of 400 mg. plaquinel and 5mg. prednisone daily. Their is also heart disease in my family.

The chest xray means that your heart is mildly enlarged. The xray alone does not allow any definitive conclusion as to the cause of the enlargement. Common causes include long-standing high blood pressure, which is most likely in your case. Other causes of cardiac enlargement include valvular heart disease or congestive heart failure, though there does not appear to be any associated indication of these other conditions on the the xray.
I am a cardiologist in Turkey.
On most of chest X-Ray's were seen mild cardiomegaly, especially in obesity. Echocardiography is necessary to show true cardiomegaly.
In my opinion you should have an echocardiographic examination.
