Mild Triscupid Regurgitation Normal???

by JessM34, Apr 09, 2008 03:46PM
Hello I am a 34 yr old female and for the past few years I have off and on felt  what appeared to me as an extra heart beat..I had mentioned it to my doctor on many occasions and she would tell me all was well...I had  EKG's done many times and all was normal she finally ordered an Echo Cardiogram and that I was told  was normal...She said there was a trace of mitral regurgitation..I asked for a copy of the report and everything says normal except for the following- it reads...Mitral valve morphology normal. there is trace mitral regurgitation. The other thing is Triscupid valve it reads- morphology is normal with mild triscupid regurgitation. Conclusions: 1.normal biventricular size nd systolic function. 2. no significant valvular disease. 3. normal plumonary artery systolic pressure. My questions are ...Is this really considered a normal Echo?? Should I be concered?? Can one still excercise with this?? My sister works in a cardiologist clinic and I had her take it to work and the answer was ...normal recheck within 5 yrs. She also said people can live all their lives with this problem and at some point may need surgery. Is this true? Am I being to paranoid?

You said that your doctor said that you are o.k. your sister took it to the Cardiology Clinic where she works and they said everything is still o.k. why are you beating yourself up with doubts what these doctors are telling you?

What you have is totally normal.  I have what you have for many yrs, and also have "mitral valve regurgitation".  Our daughter has the same thing, Cardiologist told her the same thing, not to worry that lots of people have that.

Believe me they would not overlook a serious heart condition with malpractice suits waiting in the wings and their reputation on the line.

What you have is very common and lots of people of all ages have it, that is what the Cardiologist told me many yrs ago and the one who found the mitral valve reg. 5 yrs ago, said the same thing.  That was fine with me and I was out of there.

You have to trust the doctor otherwise you will drive yourself nuts.  What you have is very common and they see that all the time and they did not misdiagnose you.
