Mitral Valve Regurgitation

Mitral Valve Regurgitation

I am a 31 year old female with complex medical problems - one been ehlers danlos syndrome. I got diagnosed with mild mitral valve and triscuspid regurgitation last year but the consultant i saw was very dismissive even though i told him i was short of breath and having palpitations. Now I am having these coughing fits mainly at night but not every night, chest pain and needing to go to the toilet more often but only at night. Does anyone think things hav progressed.

Kind Regards

Unfortunately, it is difficult/impossible to make a diagnosis over the internet. Symptoms of MR and TR are wide, and can include a number of cardiopulmonary issues (including shortness of breath, decreased exercise tolerance, difficulty sleeping at night (which could possibly include coughing), palpitations, and excess water retention in the abdomen and lower extremities. Your urinary symptoms would be unusual, but cannot be ruled out without basic lab tests and a physical exam. If you carry a diagnosis of MR/TR, and have not seen your regular cardiologist for follow-up, I would suggest making sure you are up to date on your routine echocardiograms and physical exams. This would be the best way to determine if your symptoms are related to your valve problems and whether or not they have progressed warranting further management.
