Mitral Valve Repair with Regurgitation

I was told today after my TEE test I will have to have my mitral valve repaired due to the increase in size of my left ventricle, conditions I've been experiencing lately(shortness of breath).  I will now have to shop for a surgeon.  I am scared to death on where to go, what to ask, etc.
I am 51, female, would like some direction and how do I go about the next step to educate myself on where to go and what to prepare myself for next.

The Mayo Clinic has links to information of interest, and internet access to professionals for medical advise.  Also, there is accommondation advice for travelers, etc.  Valvereplacement.com is a forum of members that have had operations and some to have operations and you will find them very helpful.
