Mitral regurge and leaflet thickening

Posted By d. Long on January 28, 1998 at 12:42:52:

Ihave a 33 yr old friend with a longstanding history of CNS Lupus.  She has recently had an acho for symptoms of dull chest pressure and the echo showed mild mitral regurgitation with some thickening of the leaflets.  This is a change from an echo done a year ago which showed a slight mitral regurgitation, and no mention of thickening of the leaflets.  Could this be, in any way, linked to her Lupus?  Is it correct to assume there is some progression of the problem as there is now some amount of leaflet thickening noted?  What would be the prudent course of action for follow-up?  What symptoms or warning signs should send her for further evaluation or treatment? Thanks for any insight you can add...
