by FABTEX, Nov 23, 2008 11:28AM
What does it mean to have  mitral valve leak at level 2.  Am I likely to require surgery at some point?

If you watch what you eat, take your medication as your doctor prescribes, and get followup echocardiograms you may never need surgery.  Heart valve surgery is a major surgery. Heart valve surgery is quite complex.  You need to way all the options first before making a decision on such a surgery.  I have spoke to several people in their 70's and 80's who said that their heart valves got better by themselves.  So it does happen.
