Mitral valve prolapse

Posted By Trisha on June 02, 1999 at 11:08:25
Hi,
My ? is a three part ? and First 2years ago I had an echocariogram and it showed just mild regurgitation now 2years later I have mitral valve prolapse...My ? is ! because it did not show up 2years ago does that mean it will get worse over another 2year period?
Second does mitral valve prolapse have anything to do with excessive heart rate when a person goes from a lying or sitting position to standing?
I have this problem where when I do this my heart rate goes from a resting rate of 60 to 120-130 my cardiologist says that it is autonomic dysfunction?
This is new it also causes me to become very lightheaded..
Also how can I benefit from a tilt table when I have just the opposite problem as one who presents with vasovagal syncope?
I can't take beta blockers due to severe asthma ,is there any other treatment available for me?
Thank you so much for your time...
and once again this forum is greatly appreciated...
Trisha
