Mixing Cholesterol Meds

So i been on Tricor for over a month to lower my tri's and total cholesterol. I got my results which brought my tris down from 600 to 200 and my total cholesterol was 253 and it went down to 235. I have a really good feeling the doctor is going to put me on another medication with the tricor. I have already gained 10 pounds from the TriCor do you know of other side effects of mixing more medications? I am 25 male and i weigh 200 pounds.
