Mom's problem

My mom has been experiencing shortness of breath after very little activity like just walking across the room to put on her coat. She is occasionally dizzy. At her recent checkup, her doctor said her heart was beating too fast. Mother is 83 and doesn;t seem to have any interest in what's going on. She is somewhat depressed so didn't ask any questions. Her  doctor gave her two prescriptions, Cordarone and Lanoxicaps. What's going on with my mom. Is this just general ageing (aging), heart disease, advanced mitral valve problem? Thanks for your help.
