Multiple PVCs

Multiple PVCs

Hi ,
As I searched the internet for valid info in multiple PVCs.  I came across this site and am excited to read a couple of the related posts.
I was, in the past week, told that I was having multiple PVCs, after I c/o 'a strange heartbeat that made me feel bad.'  I have had an EKG,  48-hr Holter monitor and an ECHO.  (I have also been diagnosed w/chemo-induced cardiomyopathy.)  The doctor said the PVCs seen on EKG were benign.  I take, among other things,  beta blockers, lasix and K+.  In the last couple of days I took an add'l K tab and it seemed to help.  No labs were done, so I don't know if my electrolytes were abnornal.  Could this be a cause of PVCs?  Anyhow, I do not feel like doing much of anything, as every time they begin I have to stop and it doesn't make me feel great.  Next week I should get results from the Holter and ECHO.  Meanwhile, what can I do to help myself?  I am a nurse, and am normally very active.
Thanks in advance,
PG3170

Electrolyte abnormalities, especially in face of underlying cardiomyopathy, can cause PVC's.  The cardiomyopathy itselt can cause PVCs.  The flip side also is true:  PVC's can cause a cardiomyopathy, especially when very frequent.  I would recommend routine potassium and magnesium suppplementation.  BEcause you already are on beta blockers and if the PVCs continue to occur you may have to consider an ablation procedure.  We typically don't recommend it unless there are at least 10 to15% of all heart beats recorded as PVC's.
