My Father's Echo

My Father's Echo

Hello to all!
I need some help about the condition of my father as he is 56 years old 5' 6" Height and having weight only 60 Kgs. He has never been a patient of High blood pressure or diabetics. But 15 days earlier he felt pain in upper abdomen with nausea and sweating highly. He was suggested for salbitrate and got relief. He was advised by a cardiologist for angiography and was given some medication, which made him more dizziness, feeling of nausea and headache. After two days my father got incautious for a minute and was taken to another cardiologist, who advised for echo and convinced us not to worry. In echo there were only two impressions: 1. Diastolic relaxations abnormally and 2. mitral trivial regugation. and some medicines were advised. it has 5 10 days gone and my father is feeling well however he is feeling weakness also.

Can anyone suggest me that angiography is still required or not? and what disease it may be?

Any help will be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Diastolic is the filling phase of the heart cycle.  If the heart's wall of the left ventricle cannot relax that would impair the amount of blood from the left atrium (blood rec'd from the lungs) going into the left ventricle to be pumpped into circulation.  Additionally, mitral valve regurgitation is the back flow of blood from left ventricle into the left atrium further reducing the amount of blood going into circulation with each heart beat.

An angiogram is a test that views the coronary vessels for any blockage.  It is irrelevant for mitral valve rgurgitation and the left ventricle's filling capacity.  If there is chest pain (angina pectoris) that is not relieved with medication, then an angiogram would be appropriate.

Thanks for sharing your father's experience and if there are any further questions, you are welcome to respond.  Take care.

Dear kenkeith,
Thanks a lot for your quick response. Actually my father never had angina and he has no history of high or low blood pressure, He is slim as only 60 Kgs with 5' 6" of height. he never smoked and drank only occasionally. And now he is feeling fine except a little dizziness.

Do you suggest for angiogram at this stage?

Thank you so much for your help and i hope u have great day everyday

The only information you have provided that can be related to a cath procedure would to evaluate the pulmonary vessel (respiratory system) for hypertension.  Dizziness can be a symptom for PH.

There isn't any information that you have posted indicates any angiography exam (injection of contrast medium to dx any vessel occlusions) is warranted.  I am looking at it from a perspective of the health insurance provider.  The procedure requires an explanation to the insurance provider such as angina pertoris symptoms, and other tests showing positive for coronary artery disease, etc.
