My father has died of lung cancer.

by Bambamsasa, Jan 25, 2009 04:28PM
My father just passed away from lung cancer. I wish to find out if there is any correllation between his artificial silizone mitral valve and his developing adenocarcinoma of the lungs. Please if anyone has any information on this subject, please forward to them to me it would be greatly appreciated.

First, I am so sorry for your loss of your father.  I just lost my mom last September.  It is very hard.  I worry a lot of my dad getting lung cancer because he smokes and because he already has prostate cancer.

After my mom had heart surgery, the surgeon spoke with us.  It did not go well and it was worse than thought.  The surgery said that he had to try to save her.  He went on to say that a lot of the time when they do open heart surgery, they find cancer and have to close the patient up and say there is nothing we can do.  I did not question this, but what I think the reason why all these cardiac patients are getting cancer is because of all the tests done on the heart and all the radiation exposure from these tests.

I have not heard anything yet about the silizone mitral valve causing cancer.  There were some on recall.
