Myocardial Infarction

My 2 year old son died last November and the autopsy discovered a M.I. that lead to Cardiac Tamponade and his death. I am trying to locate information on whether C.P.R. can be a cause of such an injury and if so how often. I must state that my son was big, healthy, active and showed no signs of any health issues before his death. I have scoured the internet and found no information or clues as to C.P.R. even being suspected in such cases. Can anybody help me with this question or lead me to someone who can?

Hi i can't answer your specific question and i am so sorry to hear about your son.

My father died of a ruptured MI.  It took and is still taking me a long time to understand what how and why.  I don't get the impression the rupture and tamponade is caused by the resuscitation, but occurs before and is the reason for requring resuscitation.  My dad's rupture occurred before the ambulance got to us.  I saw something seem to burst in his chest area.

If such injuries can result from CPR my guess would be that they may at times be a consequence of the CPR but that it still had to be done....

just my thoughts, i'm so sorry about your son
