Mystery tachy in the family

Mystery tachy in the family

My mother suggested the cause of my probs could be carbon monoxide, therefore I went for a test - even though my carbon levels were high, my blood gas was normal.  We have bought a CO alarm.

My husband has developed similar symptoms to me, he has sinus tachy now, his heart rate was racing at over 100 bpm last night.  This morning when he woke up he had unequal pupils, I was convinced it was CO.  (Carbon Monoxide).  Turns out it might not be.  But he is having trouble speaking properly, he has brain fog, pain, fatigue etc... I'm very worried.  Whatever is affecting me is affecting him.

I had a neurological examination yesterday and passed it with flying colours.  I don't know what is going on.

My baby's heart rhythm is also weird, it is fast then slow all the time like mine does.  I am convinced it is either a) to do with a virus we all had in April (when my symptoms started) or b) something in the house/water which is poisoning us.

You could call in your local environmental folks and have your home tested. They're finding that some homes are more "polluted" than the outdoors. All this heavy duty weatherization in the newer homes is locking in fumes, dust and so on. Did you get any new carpet installed lately? Cleaned? A pesticide company treat around your house? There are so many things that could be toxic to you and your family. Don't let it go. Get it checked out.

We both have unequal pupils.  We've had an update, the gas man came and said that the flue from the boiler is under our bedroom window, it COULD cause fumes to come into our bedroom and has told me to keep the bedroom window shut.

That's absurd. Telling you to keep the window shut is lazy. How about the guy redoing the vent so the fumes don't float into your window? How long have you been in that house? Have you had trouble with it before? Why now? And you aren't needing heat this time of year, are you?
Years ago they did some remodeling at my husband's work. The vent for the painters area was just above my husband's office. Talk about fumes. They had to reroute it ASAP. Someone wasn't thinking when they did that job.

The pupils are often considered a direct route to the brain, and unequal pupil size could mean a number of things.  My eye-doctor brother has told me in the past that some people have unequal pupils from birth, but it's not common.  I was in the Indoor Air Quality business, and it sure sounds like a 'sick house' syndrome.   In my state I'd call the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as contact a Neurologist at once.  Good luck.  Let us know.

Children frequently have what is called sinus arryhthmia, where the heart rate speeds up with inhalation and slows down with exhalation.  Luckily it is normal and not a cause for concern.  I think your baby is probably fine!
