Need advice badly!!!!

by Sandy, Dec 18, 1999 12:00AM
Hi , i guess i should start at the beginning. I have been diagnosed with Mild Mitral Valve Regurgitation, I am also in theropy for panic disorder and hypochondria.I am on zoloft and Ativan. Here is the reason for my posting........
I right now either have the flu thats going around or some kind of sinus infection but for the last 3 or 4 days i have been having chest pain on the left side of my chest , some times its a pinching pain other times it feels like a heavyness. Its mostly around my left breast just above it , just benieth it and some times feels like it is in the breast. And once in a while i get directly around from the pain almost in my back but more under my arm what feels like muscle jerks. I am a 30 year old female kind of over weight and a smoker. should i be worried about this????? Please help!

I particularly hesitate to give a hypochondriac advice over the internet, as it almost certainly serves to add fuel to the fire. My cautious answer would be that any sort of chest discomfort could represent something serious and if your sympotms are severe you should see your doctor. However, the chances of a 30 year old female, who is otherwise healthy, to have significant heart disease is low. In particular, if you have sinus infections, and are also otherwise concerned with your health, you should stop smoking.

My advise to you is to get an oppinion. I am a 41 year old female that has undergone a triple heart bypass my pain was not in just one area Please by all means go and get an oppion from a heart specialist.
