Need some info.

Hello,

1. I was recently diagnosed as hypertensive during my stress test. I never had Bp problem, it was always normal or high normal.
My doctor was also surprised, he never caught my high bp when
I visit him. I was just wondering if the stress test was correct?
What's the difference betn. the stress bp and bp in general? Which one is accurate. Obviously, I was horrified to see all those equipments at stress test room.

2. I have trouble sleeping in the days I workout. I don't seem to be having problem in my resr days. Why could it be?

3. I also have falling asleep after I wake up. Sometimes I wake up around 5:00AM, and no matter how hard I try to fall asleep again, I can't. Whenever I am about to fall asleep, it feels like my chest is mildly trembling, and my heart bitting fast. I check my pulse rate while this happening, it seems to be normal. I also checked my bp sometimes, it is normal, too. I don't seem to be having this problem while I am awake. I can lie in the bed for hours without falling asleep and not get these symptoms, but when I start to fall asleep, it happens. Any comments?

Dear randy,

it is quite common for people to ahve an increase in blood pressure with a stress test, but if it becomes high it is an early sign of a tendency to develope hypertension in the future.

I would follow this closely with your physician.

As far as sleeping, this may be a sign of depression or anxiety.  You may wish to discuss this with your internist.  It is unlikely to be related to your heart.

June,

this is a procedure done the same way as a catheterization that will dilate your artery with a balloon anagioplasty and place a stent to open the blockage in your artery.

specific details of the procedure should be provided by the person doing the procedure.
