Need someone's insight please

10/18/07
I have the stress test results that I recently had, I had to go to the ER for what I now know was an anxiety attack. Dr. thought it appropriate to do all the cardiac tests just to be sure. Here are the results from a nuclear imaging stress test:  Stress EKG negative for inducible ischemia,,, hyperdynamic global left ventricular systolic function, most likely secondary to small cavitary dimensions,,,,mild concentric LVH,,, predominantly fixed inferior and inferolateral perfusion defect appears artifactual given intact wall thickening. Similarly, basilar anteroseptal defect also appears artifactual and I doubt prior infarct,,, No significant scintigraphic reversible ischemia demonstrated.
Does this ound like a normal result, except for the LVH and my dr. has explained that it came from BP. What does artifactual mean? By the way I am a 38 year old female with absolutely no family history of heart disease and BPis now well controlled with medicine. Thanks alot for any help.

My dr. did go over the results with me, and the only thing that he called my attention to was the mild lvh. He just said that my BP needed to be controlled ( it is now with meds) and that was pretty much it. i have just gotten a copy of the full report and was just wondering what all the medical jargon meant in layman's terms. Do you know if the LVH will regress with controlled BP, mine is now staying pretty steady at 118-125 over 78-80? If it will regress how long does it take to see a difference in it. I don't know what my measurements were on the test. I started BP meds in March of 2007. Thanks again for the help. I appreciate it alot.

Artifactural it's not really there but is 'manmade'. So the finding is actually related to the imaging process itself or other technical reasons.

Did your doctor not explain the test results to you???  If he/she did not go over the results of your stress test, I'd probably look for another one.  Your results look very good to me, but I'm no doctor.
