Neurocardiacsyncopy with Raynaud's

by sue, Oct 19, 1999 12:00AM
I need a help finding a medication.  I had an EKG, Halter monitor and an echo which all came back negative.  I did have a very positive tilt test.  Within 30 minutes my blood pressure dropped to 52 over 26 and my pulse dropped to the low 20's.  I tried Atenolol 25 mg and was still having problems and my doctor found out I Raynaud's and refered me to a specialist who proscribed Norpace 100mg. I could not take this.  I had chest pains and a fluxuating heart rate.  I am now on Zoloft at 25mg.
I started at 50mg and it made me sick and the shakes.  I am now taking 25mg and still feeling sick and shakey.  I need to find some type of medicine to controll.  This weekend I did not take anything and had hot flashes in the store and had to leave.  This happened three times during the day.

It is going to be hard to treat the syncopy with medicines and not aggravate the Raynaud's. You might want to discuss with your cardiologist or a cardiac electrophysiologist the possibility of pacemaker implantation. It may not eliminate your symptoms entirely, but could hopefully convert an episode of syncope to just lightheadedness.
