Niece is 12 years old and has tachycardia

My family and I are very confused about niece's heart problem. The doctors put her on heart medications. Could you please tell us if she shouldn't be running or jumping. In general what things should she not do with this condition?

My niece has hyper ventricular tachycardia. At times her heart races to over 200 beats a minute. She is taking Tenormin 25 mg twice a day. Even taking this medications she is still having spells where her heart races. All thou the spells are shorter in length they still scare us. Th doctor says that they will look at surgery when she is 15 years old. If anyone can help us by giving us some information on what activties she should be excluded from please let me know. It has taken us 3 years to find out what was wrong with her. We just want to make sure she grows up to be a healthy adult. Please email me at ***@**** with any information you might have.

Sorry to hear about your niece's difficulties.  Activity restrictions would be based on what "condition" your niece has.  Please give me some more information so I can attempt to answer your question.

I can't stress enough how important it is for your family to discuss your questions with your niece's doctor.
