Nitric Oxide Substitue for Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension

Looking for information concerning the treatment of an adult that has Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension. What other available treatments are there besides using Nitric Oxide (looking for what can be used to wean off a patient that has been using Nitric Oxide)? I am a first yr respiratory therpay student in need of information for a report. So far the majority of the information that I have found pertains to Newborns.

Are you sure you don't mean *primary* PH?  Persistent is only in the newborn to my knowledge, while primary may be either children or adults and is very rare.
Secondary PH is common.  There are a number of good treatments available today, including Flolan 24/7 IV infusions, Ventavis inhalation therapy, and Tracleer oral medication, plus others.  Try pha association website.
