Non-sustained ventricular tachycardia

Non-sustained ventricular tachycardia

My holter report said this:

There were 2 short non-sustained runs of ventricular tachycardia, the longest being 6 beats in duration at a heart rate of 142 BPM.

Is this dangerous?

The answer to this question depends very much on the situation. In some people with a structurally normal heart, no history of syncope (passing out), and no family history, non-sustained VT can be a benign finding. However, in people with certain types of heart disorders it can be an indicator of severity. So the answer depends very much on the rest of the picture. I would suggest following-up on this result with the ordering physician.
