Normal Systolic / High Diastolic Pressure

Thanks for taking my question!

I have gained 60lbs over a period of 12 months. Concerned, I went to a Endo last August and he ran several tests to check my thyroid. All came back normal and his advice was to diet.

Just to give you some background - I ran a 1/2 marathon in 09 and my usual daily run was a minimum of 5 miles. I found out I was pregnant in Sep 09 and miscarried in Dec 09 (15 weeks). Ever since the pregnancy - I can't lose weight. I am a 37 yr old female (obviously!).

Fast forward 6 months and I have gained an additional 20lbs. I work out with a trainer twice a week and run 2-3 times a week. Weight should not, nor has it ever been an issue.

I have had heartburn for the last year and it has increasingly gotten worse. I take 300 mg of Zantac daily. I have not had a normal BM for months and am constipated - then the other.

I went to my dr this week for the heartburn and they took my blood pressure and it was 126/98. They took it 4 times. Dr asked me to keep a log and come back for bloodwork this week. He looked at my blood work from last year and he said my cortisol was low and wanted to recheck everything to see what is going on.

When I started working out with my trianer in Jan, he noticed my pusle was high. My husband bought me a watch to check my pulse and even when I wake up, it's in the high 90's.

This morning I checked my BP upon waking up and it was 126/98 with a pulse of 100.

Just a little concerned and not sure what it all means. Any light you can shine would be appreciated!

I was just looking at this web site - http://gerd.emedtv.com/zantac/zantac-side-effects.html - and noticed that some of your symptoms are listed as side effects of Zantac.  As far as your blood work I would make sure an endocrine screen was done.  Low cortisol is an indication of adrenal insufficiency - cortisol is an important hormone that controls metabolism.  Just a thought.
