Nuclear Stress Test

Nuclear Stress Test

I have to have a nuclear stress(Myoview) test on Thursday.  Has anyone else had this done?  What is it like?

I am having this done as well as an echo and they told me to expect to be there for 4 hours.  I didn't think about it at the time, but I wonder why I have to be there so long?  Do they give you the results right there?  I am having this done at the cardiologist's office.

I had one done about a year ago.  The time sounds about right, especially if they do an echo afterwards.  The time has something to do with the dye they use and time to let it get in and pictures before and pictures after.  I had an hour break, where we could bring lunch and relax.  Then more pictures.  It really wasn't four hours of (think it was more like 3+) doing stuff, there was some waiting and the pictures (2 series) took quite a bit of time.

If your experience was like mine, it was no problem just a few hours out of a day.

Good luck to you.

I am getting the test done because I have a history of PVC's and PAC's.  Since January, I have been having some vertigo spells and there have been abnormalities noted on some of my EKG's.  The Dr. I am seeing now said some of my past EKG's showed a slightly prolonged QT interval but he thinks it is most likely due to some medications I was taking at the time those EKG's were done.  He is wanting to see what my QT interval is like during exercise and also sleep (I will be going home with a Holter that day).

I'm just glad he ordered the test because my family doctor wouldn't do it.

Hi! I just had a nuclear stress test done. It took almost four hours. When you first go in they have to inject a dye into an IV. It takes about an hour for it to reach your heart. So you have to wait for that. Then they put you on a table and have a machine circle around you taking pictures of your heart. After that you do the treadmill part and when you reach your target heart rate they again inject the dye into you. I think they said they do this because this will show if you are getting enough oxygen in your heart. While on the treadmill they have you all hooked up so they can moniter your blood pressure and do an EKG. After that they again put you on a table and take pictures of your heart. Now you see why it takes so long!
I hope it all turns out well for you. God bless.
