PAC's

by BetaBlocker, Feb 15, 2009 04:25PM
I have been on a beta blocker for the past 2.5 years. i was originally prescribed the blocker to help me with my PAC's. I like to excercise and could not do much due to the mixed heart beats i was sensing, i went into the hospital for a Electro Physiologic Study and while on the table went into Atrial Fib. When i came out of it the doctors said they didn't know what was the cause and said otherwise was healthy. they gave me a beta blocker and on my way i went. I believe i don't need the Beta Blocker if i strengthen my heart enough to handle the PAC's. How do i get off of Beta Blockers, i feel like i'm dependent or addicted.
By the way, after doing many many months of research on PAC's......it is all STRESS RELATED. My symtoms will come and go with stress, whether your working out or worrying the heart has to be eased into the work so it's not shocked. Try my advise, when you work out....warm up extensively, the sensation won't be nearly as bad, or when stressed.....ease through it.
Thank You.....

If you feel that you can handle the PACs then you don't need the beta blockers; but if you have atrial fibrillation then off of the beta blockers your heart rate can be very fast and cause you to be very lightheaded, have severe palpitations or even pass out.
