PFO closure

by sandylynne64, Sep 20, 2009 12:11PM
I am scheduled for a PFO closure in 3 weeks and I am very nerveous about the procedure.  I am seeing I believe some of the best doctors our state has to offer at the heart hospital.  Even though I have ask several questions and aired my concerns I still feel nerveous about this.  Has anybody went through this procedure that could share their experiences with me?  Thanks I do appreciate it.

I have not gone through a procedure like this personally, but as a physician have participated in PFO closure on multiple occasions and as an electrophysiologist, have crossed the intraatrial septum on numerous occasions.  It is not a difficult procedure, but as with any procedure out there, it is important to understand its risks which I am sure your doctor went over with you.  Make sure that your physician is an experienced operator and has performed these in the past on more than just a few occasions.
