I'm 47 yrs old. Because of my severe migraine, my neurologist called for an echo with bubble study to see if I have a hole in my heart. Since that was positive, I had a TEE ( Trans esophageal echo cardiogram ). Conclusion was that Patent foramen ovale is present. The inter atrial septum is aneurysmal. A left to right shunt across the interatrial septum is seen at rest. No right to left shunting was seen.Impression: Stretched patent foramen ovale.
My cardiologist asked me to take an aspirin a day. He also asked me to join a trial study to see if I'll be a candidateto close the hole. My concern is that since I have aneurysmal interatrial septum, will it rupture if it is not treated? Since I get migraine, if the PFO is not closed will I get a stroke?
