POST SURGERY MITRO VALVE REPLACEMENT

  SURGERY 0CT 1, WAS DOING VERY WELL, TAKING WALKS, MOVING AROUND, STARTED REHAB.  HAD SOME MODERATE PAIN IN CHEST AREA WHEN LAYING DOWN.  BUT NOW SINCE REHAB EXPERIENCEING MODERATE TO SEVERE LOWER BACK PAIN.  AFTER OPERATION ONLY NEEDED 2 PAIN PILLS, SINCE THIS LATEST PAIN HAS STARTED HAVE HAD TO TAKE PILLS FOR PAIN.  IS THIS NORMAL??

Firsty, read the note submitted by N.Jones who has also had an MVR.
The rehabilitation and YOUR doctor (at least your cardiologist) need to know that
you have pain, as it may or may not be unrelated, but regardless, pain medications are not the answer and
those meds were prescribed for the chest pain from your sternal wound- in other words, do not treat yourself, as you can
hurt more than help your back.  It could be that the back muscles were strained during the surgery or even after.  You will likey
benefit from back rehabilitation as N.Jones states in his/her submission.  Good Luck and write again if you have any further
