PREGNANCY AFTER CHF

2 years ago at 28 weeks pregnant I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure my EF was 20 so they had to deliever the baby to give me the medications that I needed. Now my EF is 50 with no recurrence of the chf with the coreg.

My question is there any way possible that I can survive another pregnancy or do I need to get my tubes tied my cardiologist is telling me that he can not be the one to answer that question for me I would really appreciate your opinion. I would love to have another child but not if I would be putting my  life at risk.....

                                             Thank you,

                                                L.W.

I am 32.  When Cardio discovered in Dec. 2006 that I had Mitral Valve Prolapse with mild regurg, he told me that my baby-making days are over as I will not survive another pregnancy and if you do decide to get pregnant, then you ARE NOT ALLOWED to give normal birth.

In my opinion your cardiologist is copping out.  ask him/her in another way, like "what can happen if" vs a flat "will I survive".  Doctors dont like to answer that kind of question.
