PSVT

by Buckeye42, Mar 24, 2009 01:35PM
I have had episoodes of PSVT for years off and on. When I first got them, the episodes would last longer than 20 minutes until I finally had one and a cardiologist saw the EKG.  I have been on Verapamil ER 240 mg and Digoxin .125 mg for a LONG time, like 20 yrs.  If I start to have an episode, which is very infrequent now, I keep an 80 mg verapamil in my purse, take one, and the episode goes away within 10 minutes.  Since I am doing fine on this method of control, do I need to be concerned about taking these meds for the rest of my life? My last Thalium stress test came back perfect.  The funny thing about my SVT is that it never happens when I am exercising or walking fast. I'm now 66 yrs. old.

Thanks,
Sue
