I've failed both atenolol 25 and 50mg doses and verapamil (neither helped to decrease the symptoms). I have daily PVCs, from 3 a minute to 30 a minute, lasting from five minutes to several hours. Obviously, at the upper end of this scale, it wears me out!
I'm wondering what the next step should be? My father failed atenolol, but did well on Toprol XL. I'm wondering if I should mention this to my cardiologist? I don't see where Toprol is indicated for PVCs. Should I forget trying new meds, since others haven't helped--and learn to live with this? Or, does my family history require me to take aggressive action and find a way to stop these annoying palpitations?
