PVCs after and ablation

PVCs after and ablation

I had an ablation done in June and for a few days I didn't have any PVCs at all which after having over 47K a day was nice! The PVCs started coming back slowly but now they happen way to often for my liking and the bigiminies are there as well. My doc said that I shouldn't be having them anymore since he couldn't make it happen after the ablation. They feel like they are coming from the same area (I am going by the pain involved) and the chest pain is getting more frequent as well.  Is this normal for the PVCs to return so soon?

Dear Leigh,
It is possible that you may need a second ablation.  One of two things could be happening.  Either there is a second site that was previously masked by the first PVC focus and has now been unmasked.  Or the other possibility is that the ablation only "bruised" the PVC focus and it has returned.  If this is the case  a second ablation done "deeper" may solve the problem.  The other option is to "wait and see".  These may resolve on their own or with medication that was previously ineffective.

About 1 week after my last ablation, my PVC's came  back 10 fold and they never did go away again.  My doctor said that maybe after burning away the troubled spots, other spots became irratated and started PVC's from another location.

It sounds like the explanation from your doctor is pretty weak. You have to wonder if he was the one that made things worse.  I had RF ablation done in June.  I think it corrected my PSVT problem but now I get a couple seconds of atrial fib almost every day.  It was a rare event before my ablation, but it still does not bother me much.  Good luck to both of you

Thanks for yalls repsonses. Although they are not as bad as they were before the RF ablation they are getting worse by the day. I forgot to add that they burned 12 spots at the right ventical outflow tract.  I have been tried on just about every type of medicine and with my naturally low BP the meds just made my BP worse and some of the meds made the PVCs worse and caused other types of palps. ***Cardio CRC - how long would you think the 'wait and see' should be? And if I opt for the 2nd ablation, should the doctor who did the 1st one do the 2nd? (The RF ablation was done in June at Cleveland Clinic). Thanks

Hi, I had a RF Ablation on Sept 25 for Pvc's. I was having 10 to 30 runs of ventricular bigemeny an hour some lasting 15 to 30 minutes. For approx 2 weeks after my procedure I was having a horrible time with Pvc. I was in bigemeny one day for 5 hours strait. The doctor ablated 3 areas on my RVOT but the one spot that most likely is causing my ectopy is located on my left ventricle near my bundle of his. this is an area that if ablated I would need a pacemaker. At 34 yrs old, no thank you. Now after 3 weeks, my pvc's have markedly decreased. I am still having them and the doctor has me on verapamil 240 mg sr once  a day. I also have HTN. I know that my PVC's are not cured, but I can live with a couple of runs every few hours. someone on this forumn stated try to ignore them, remember that they are not harmful, and try to go on with your life. That is what I am going to do. I am also going to try the magnesium supplements. I do not like vegetables and I dont use multivitamen supplements, so I am probaly low on some of my minerals. Anyways, good luck to those who are going through the same thing.

After my third ablation attempt in 1992!!! They were successful! My own Doctor's ego did not stand in the way of referring me to a more experienced Doctor. At the time I was 22, any menstrual activity seemed to worsen my symptons which actually lead the male Doctors astray... honestly it didn't seem to matter what emotion I felt my pvc's came and went when they wanted to. Once I stayed in them for eleven hours! Actually I could bring them on every time by running up stairs?? Meds worked at first to lessen the symptoms, but my body just seemed to adjust every time we upped/changed the dosage.  At 22 I was taking 28 pills a day and had more syptoms (symptoms) from drug side effects than I wanted to live with! Now I am drug free and PVC free! Honestly every once in a blue moon I feel a run of PVC's more frequent than that some a-fib, but hey that is nothing!!! Try to stay positive, stress free and find out what you need to make you happy.  If I really really looked back at my life then,... I was unhappy and stressed even though I denied that possiblity.  The mind is very powerful, maybe your body is trying to tell you something?  Get a second opinion, there are some excellent Doc's out there. Try Baystate Med in MASS, or Geisinger in PA, or the UMASS Med center.  Good Luck

I'm discussing an Ablation procedure with a Doctor on 11/2. I've been reading various comments concerning results of Ablations. Many people report Bigeminy, more PVC's etc which isn't very encouraging. I don't want to feel worse, permanently, afterward. I guess most people who have successful procedures aren't on the site anymore because they're out enjoying their new life. I was glad to hear from Rachel, who gives me some hope. Is there anyone else out there who has good news & good results from their Ablation - I'd sure like to hear from you.

I have PVC's and have had them for about 10 years now. They are extremely scary for me especially when I exercise. I am being treated with Tambacor but they have not really decreased. An Ablation is something my doctor and I have talked but I am not hearing good things about the procedure. My life has changed drastically since my PVC's. I will not even attempt to play basketball anymore and I limit my activity. I am very in to exercise and athletics but I can't even run the bases in a Softball game due to fear of the PVC's. If one occurrs while I am running, I freak out. Very confused and feel like I am missing out on alot of activity. I even get episodes where I get several PVC's for a period of 30 seconds straight. My doc says it is benign. Any suggestions.
