I have had a chronic cough for years. Doctors had treated me for asthma even though my pulmonary function tests always came back negative for asthma. I was given ZyrtecZyrtec Zyrtec dye-free sugar-free Zyrtec hives Zyrtec-d, Singulair and ProventilProventil Proventil hfa. Eventually I ended up in the ER with an asthma attack, and was told that I did not have asthma but GERD. All asthma meds were stopped, and I was prescribed NexiumNexium Nexium i.v., which I used for 3 months. Not long after I developed pvcs, which I have had now for a 1 1/2 years. After a series of tests, echo,EKGAtrioventricular block, ekg tracing Ecg Exercise stress test, stress, halter, I was given ToprolToprol-xl... Only 50 mg a day and I was in the twilight zone, depressed, in a fog, felt I was not functioning, and still dealing with pvcs. After a bad night of pvcs I ended up in the ER with chest pains (left side), and pains in left arm. Docs took me off Toprol, put me on Betapace. Now I'm just tired all the time. Cath proved was not heart attack, but I still have pvcs. Could these symptoms all be related to GERD??
i believe that they are. dr's do not have any proof.
i have heard of other people on here having same thing.
i was on atenolol for svt and then started to have this bad stomach burning and heartburn.
well they put me on previced and then nexium for that. then my heart was bothering me more. so they upped the atenolol then the nexium.
well needless to say it was a major problem.
i moved and went to see a new stomach dr.
ne told me that beta blockers soemtimes open ur asophagas sphinchter and that causes the burning in the stomach and throat. he also told me that in rare cases that the nexium could cause paplitations.
i was floored that i was having that problem and the heart dr and stomach dr from before never said anythign of those to me after they knew waht i was feeling.
talk to your dr's get another opinion if you feel necessary.
i feel tehm still when i am on meds for things some bother me i dunno why but they do.
