PVc and Dental work

Hello i have posted here for having pvc and pac and was questioning beta  blockers.  I had forgottten to ask you if i need to take antibotic (antibiotic) before dental procedures and what is the difference between a mumur and pvc or pac?  I also wanted to go for elective plastic surgery procedure , wwould there be any added risks if i get pvc and pac if i go under  general?  thank you so much.

Cyn123,

Thanks for the post.

Murmurs are sounds that can indicate abnormal heart valve function.  PVCs and PACs are premature beats of the heart and have no implication regarding valve function.  Some valves function abnormally due to structural defects in the valve.  Persons with these structural defects may be at increased risk for infection of the valves when they undergo dental procedures, and thus the recommendation for pre-procedure antibiotics.  Persons with isolated PVCs or PACs do not need antibiotics prior to procedures.

Isolated PVC and PAC in the presence of an otherwise structurally normal heart are not at increased risk when undergoing general anesthesia.

Good luck.

What beta-blockers are you considering ?
I used to take antibiotics before dental cleanings : sometimes harsh on the stomach.
