I'm so sorry to hear she's having to go through this, it's scary when it's such a young child.
As a lifelong fainting patient with profound bradycardia episodes since age 9, I wish someone had found what was wrong with me early in life and taken precautions with a PM.

I know any surgery for a child is harrowing; but the PM implant really isn't that bad.  I think the worst thing is she'll have to keep her arm in a sling and can't play or use the arm for a few weeks after.  In time, she won't even know she has it and may help if she's having symptoms.

I can't tell you the amount of damage I've sustained over the years from frequent fainting and falls.  I've broken bones, scraped things severely to the point they think I developed brain damage from 35+ years of fainting.

2 years ago at the age of 42 I had a Boston Scientific Teligen 100 ICD implanted...it's a pacemaker/defibrillator unit since I have both brady and tachycardia issues that are dangerous.

Technology has come so far and the newer units come with a much longer battery life; mine has 8 1/2 years left since I'm not pacemaker dependent - it paces me out of the low HR's.

btw; I'm not sure if you were trying to get a doctor's answer? if so, you may want to go back to the expert forum and ask the pediatric dr or the heart disease/rhythm dr there - questions are limited so keep trying at different times to see if you can get yours in =)
