Pacemaker and stress test

by PikaPika88, Jul 11, 2007 06:48AM
Can someone tell me can I go through the treadmill stress test with the pacemaker (without turning it off)?  Would it damage my heart or break the pacemaker?   I'm going to sit some tests, I don't know what they'll give me but I'm not preparing to tell a word.

Pika

I don't think there is a problem. As I recall scouser costa rica has a pacemaker and takes treadmill stress test every year (he runs daily too). Perhaps he'll see your question and respond.

I have a stress tests every year also.  Chemical and treadmill.  Since they are medically supervised it is doubtful that they would allow you to go far enough to cause damage.

Tony, thanks.

FLBrat, thanks.  I don't understand?  Which part: my heart or the pacemaker that they would allow me to go far enough to cause damage?  I don't want any damage.  I know it is no doc going to care if any damage in my heart!

You right Pika. They are not there to 'care',they do their job,so that is their CARE,they are  not there to be happy sad or what ever about our condition. That is not their job....I always get from DR 's the best that they can give...maybe I am lucky too.....but.... one point we all will be history, statistic......even with the best care.......but until .....

Don't worry be Happy !!:)

just... Take it Easy !!

Even with damaged heart life is beautiful....

and we care about you too ! I do !

Pika,  The will not do anything that will damage either your heart or the pacemaker.  So wear comfy shoes and get ready for a walk.....

V & often, thanks for the reply.

Yes, the doc asked me a few questions then sent me to the treadmill stress test.  While he was in the stress test room (I think he's very stress too), he only looked at the ECG printout and played with the ECG machine.  He didn't look at me and didn't talk to me.

It is important that we concentrate on doing what we are asked to do during tests and allow the medical staff to concentrate on the job at hand.  V and Often answered your ? about damage to what.  Get back with us when you get your results.
