Pacemaker programming

Pacemaker programming

Will it be a problem if a cardiologist programs my pacemaker to start to work at 40 beats per minute both day and
night.  Currently the cardiologist has it set to start sending pulses at 50 beats per minute from 6  AM to 9PM PDT.
and from 9PM to 6AM PDT it is set to start sending pulses at 40 BPM.   Is there any reason why the pacemaker
can not be set to start at 40 beats per minute 24 7?

Thanks,

Jerry

I'm guessing your Cardiologist doesn't want your heart to work very hard.  I think a heart rate below 40 bpm usually leads to lightheaded issues or fainting.  Are you feeling faint when it drops below 50 bpm in the daytime?  How is your energy level during the day?  Are you feeling faint at night?  I am guessing that 40 bpm is very low for a daytime setting.
Mine is set for 60 bpm minimum day and night, and I feel best at that level, it's been set higher but not lower.
