Pain between the shoulders

Hi, I would appreciate any help you could lend.  I was awakened last night with severe pressure/pain between my shoulders radiating through my back to my esouphagus (sp).  Realized the pain had been in my dream for quite sometime as well.  The pain continued for quite sometime.  It has bothered me on and off today.  Is this anything to worry about?  I am 50.  I have high blood pressure, but it is maintained with my meds.  
  I have had high blood pressure for over 12 years, family history of it.  My brother also had his first heart attack about this age.  My dad died of heart disease but it was a result of diabetes.  Please let me know if I am worried for nothing or if I should be calling the Dr. tomorrow.  Thanks so much, Cathy

Pain between the shoulder blades is a classic symtpom of heart disease, especially for women. You really should not take a chance and get it checked out ASAP. Don't take the chance that it could be serious. With your family history I would go straight to the ER if it happened again.
