Pain in calves

Hello,
I recently (last week) being treated for a herniated disk, but it is ok now,as i am being told to pay attention.
anyway, this morning, i had to go a long walk, as i am work as a real estate and lands broker, the land was rather rocky, and a bit of a hill like.
i suddenly felt pain in the back of my right calf, right below the knee side, squeezing it, felt painful, but didnt notice any reddish color, on swelling, then it went to both calves. when sitting or standing, there is no pain, as i get up or start to walk there is this pain.
i searched online,as i was told it is Charlie's horse, but rather, they mentioned DVT, or clot.
The left calf is ok now,but the right calf, still has this pain.
N.B, i havent done any physical activities for months now,due to my herniated disk issue.
i am 37 - Male

I agree but the most common cause for cramps in leg muscles is a depletion of electrolytes in the area causing nerve misfiring, cramping the muscles. You may be short of salt, potassium, calcium or magnesium. Usually a pinch of extra salt on your food is sufficient and eating a banana.

Sudden pain with exercise in the calf is certainly a classic sign of a cramp (Charley Horse) if you are deconditioned or dehydrated, or both.
When I started exercising about fifteen years ago after a long time of inactivity, I had to start slowly because of leg cramps and some kind of neuopathy, but it got better and better and soon I was walking at military march time.  Be careful of your herniated disk, that could be the cause of leg pain.
