Palpitations every couple of seconds??????

Over a week ago for absolutely no identifiable reason my heart started skipping way more beats than usual.  I can go hours with none and then have several hours where I'll have 2 or 3 a minute.  It's making me crazy!  I don't know if it's dangerous or not.  I was laying in bed last night and it would skip every couple of seconds.  I think I am making it worse by worrying about it.  I have had all cardio tests and "apparently" I have a perfectly normal heart and I have been told to not worry about these skips, flutters, bumps etc.  I am not sure how I can't worry when my heart is skipping all over the place.  I usually get around 10 times a day when I feel my heart blip and I can deal with that.  It is when it starts doing it for 20 minutes or so that I get really scared.  Would that be something others would suffer with (the skipping for a long time)?  It just seems to have a mind of its own and for on reason acts up and goes back to normal.  I also had an EP study 15 years ago and I was told my heart is perfect and don't worry about it.

I'm going insane and have no idea what's causing this out of the blue.  Why would they suddenly increase for no reason whatsoever?

Hi Shellbian1961
I am the same age as you and this VERY exact thing has started with me.  I could have written your post.  Do you think it is hormone related?  That is all I can think of because this has been a gradual process over the last few months.   I also used to get maybe 10 episodes a day.  But they were quick and over and I didn't worry.  Now, I have periods throughout the day where they are with me for a few hours.   I can have 1 pvc a minute, then 3 the next minute, then maybe nothing for 2 minutes, then 2 or 3 in 30 seconds and so on..  I hate this.  I have been checked out as well and was just at my doctor last week.  These also are the type I feel in my upper stomach, not really my chest area.  Plus, the pause seems a little longer which makes me feel like I'm falling in an elevator.
He again, told me not to worry about them because I have a normal heart.
I find it impossible not to worry.   My life is good and this is depressing the crap out of me.

I am starting to believe that it has something to do with the food that we eat. I don't have as many problems when i eat something fresh and i'm not talking about store fresh. i'm talking about from a vendor off the side of the road that has there own gardens and such. it doesn't cure it but it absolutely helps. you may think that sounds crazy and maybe it is but i have started buying from those people and i feel alittle better. I'm also going to try to get off of prilosec by using natural remedies. i'll have to do that slowly though so my body can adjust. I'm tired of the doctors that have no solid answers so i'm taking it upon myself to do the research and find what works. If i do light workouts i gain more energy, just can't do awhole lot or heart starts to skip around on me. I hate to sound like some of those conspiracy theorist but i'll be damned if what they say isn't starting to make alittle sense.

Hi Kev543.  I actually have low blood pressure.  I just find it so hard to accept that everyone gets these horrible things though.  They feel so awful.  I have been getting them since I was 23 years old and I am now 49.  I don't think I will ever accept them.

If you don't mind me asking, have you been diagnosed with high blood preasure or acid reflux/gerd because i have the same symptoms accept i have stomach problems and i'm just trying to figure out what the heck is going on. I'm starting to think that some stomach problems can cause anxiety and other symptoms that relate to this topic.

Palpitations are very annoying and scary for many people, however most of the time they are completely benign (normal), especially if you have a normal heart and have had normal cardiology testing recently.  Every single individual gets them throughout the day, it is just a matter if you feel them or not.  Anxiety definitely makes them worse so I would recommend that you really try and relax about them if possible or if you have a lot of stress or an anxious situation that is not going away any time soon, consider starting an anti-anxiety med but would discuss this with your primary care physician.  Also, caffeine intake and alcohol make them worse so try and cut back if you drink a lot of caffeine or alcohol.   Make sure you have had your thyroid checked because thyroid disorders can make them worse.  There are medications (beta-blockers) that can help slow them and allow you to not notice them as much so if you just can't take it, discuss this with your primary care physician or cardiologist.

Hope this helps.  Good Luck!
