I'm curious, why do you keep having ablations? do your pvc's keep returning in the same place or another pathway? I know I need another one but no way do I want to go through it again...I lived with 50,000 pvc's for a couple of years my dr guessed from ekg's even after ablation I was around 10,000.
If they keep doing them and the pathways coming back they ablate them, after awhile wouldn't there be no where else to fix?
Hey there, Yeah I would worry about that very little bit of PVC's I have 6-8 thousand per day and my doctor says that I must have an cardiac ablation for them but it took for mr to have over 4 thousand and Heart Failure due to cardiomyopathy in order for them to do something. THey didn't seem to think that while my heart was structurally normal they were fine. Once I was diagnosed with heart failure the doctors did something about my PVC's= ablations...I have had 4 of them so far and I am monitoring to probably get ready for ablation number 5. It's not so bad... hope I have been some help...if not feel free to contact me back.
I'm a 49 yrs old male and have the same issues as you do from premature heartbeats. Had them since my late 20's as well. Gone to a couple of cardiologists in the past stating that everything is normal. I know of some lucky people with ongoing irregular heartbeats with no feelings of them. Like you, I definitely feel them mainly in my upper abdominal area.
I can basically tell when they are about to happen usually after a large meal or if I'm stressed. I do believe it has something to do with my gastrointestinal system as well. I get that indigestion feeling when it's about to happen. I get short durations of afib once in a while.
To help me control the irregular bouts, I take 50 mg of atenolol once a day. It seems to help but doesn't get rid of it completely.
Since I've been reading through this website from time to time, it helps to ease my worries knowing that many others are dealing with the same problem.
Hope you get through the days ahead.
bentleywentley,
Premature beats in the form of PAC's or PVC's are very common and experienced at some point by everyone. While most people are not affected by these premature beats and do not even feel them, some people, like yourself, notice these beats. The beats generally are nothing to be concerned about and require no further testing. Some people benefit from starting medicines such as betablockers.
Hope that this helps.
